It is essential to have a solid basic knowledge of gemstones as well as diamonds and pearls to provide professional advice to your customers. To fulfil these requirements, we advise you to attend four seminars from our comprehensive programme. This will equip you with the essential knowledge to confidently sell jewellery with gemstones, diamonds and pearls. Furthermore, you have the option of attending additional seminars at any time, up until you complete gemmological training and obtain an internationally recognised qualification.

Each seminar ends with an exam, and the successful completion will be certified.

The following content is taught as part of the basic knowledge programme:

  • General terms, formation conditions, properties and characteristics as well as occurrences and use of the most important gemstones (E1)
  • Criteria for evaluating gemstones and types of gemstone processing (E8)
  • Properties of diamonds, basics of grading, practical clarity and colour grading (D1)
  • Occurrences, types, qualities, imitations and treatments of pearls, cultured pearls, corals, ivory and amber (P/OS)
